I would always somehow bring up that I have a motorcycle to anyone I meet. My bike was always at the top of my mind. Most bikers understand that every single time you swing your leg over the bike, it could be your last. I knew the risks that I signed up for when I started learning how to ride. To help protect myself, I decided to never ride alone on backroads. I would meet other bikers while riding the main roads or filling up gas, and would ask them if they had a group ride soon and if I could go with them to a back road. I tried to make sure there was always more than one person for a backroad ride in case anything happened to me or another person.
Another risk on busy streets and highways is that the cars won't see you, so they have to be able to hear you, and since I was quiet and small, I was very scared of being alone. I met Roman when I was on my first-ever highway ride, and I tried to signal to him that it was my first time riding on the highway, but he had no clue what I was trying to say. He split off, and I was left alone again. Later that day, Roman and I ran into each other on the bikes again in a different area. We were able to stop and talk for a little bit about how we got into bikes and what kind of bikes we had. It was my way of figuring out if this was a trustworthy enough person to ride with me. We both were so energetic and excited about bikes, so we decided to start our own group and start looking for more friends.
We found Alex a few weeks later, and shortly after that, we were introduced to Marcus and Dakota. We were creating a whole bike group, and we would always ride together, it seemed like every day for a month. We went on so many adventures and rode sometimes to a whole other state. We pulled in a biker I had met before I met Roman, his name is Wayne, and we all got really close, like brothers and sisters.
They say everyone remembers their first ride out of the neighborhood. Tell me about your first experience.
